Thomas Lickona, Ph.D., is a developmental psychologist and Professor of Education Emeritus at the State University of New York at Cortland, where he founded and directed the Center for the 4th and 5th Rs (Respect and Responsibility). He is recognized internationally as a leading authority on character education and moral development. His books include Educating for Character (Bantam, 1991), Character Matters (Touchstone, 2004), and How to Raise Kind Kids (Penguin, 2018). Dr. Lickona has lectured extensively on character education and human development in Catholic educational settings, integrating developmental psychology with virtue-based approaches to moral formation.
