Biography
St. Lucy lived in the 4th century, born in Syracuse. Raised a Christian, she often gave her possessions to the poor despite the sharp persecutions of Diocletian’s reign. When she resisted the advances of a Roman soldier, she was arrested and martyred. She is one of the early Christian saints and is so honored in various prayers, antiphons, and poems of the day.
